Lauren Valles, Class of 2022, Political Science
Lauren Valles is a first year Political Science major planning to make the most out of her next four years at UCLA. She is so thankful not only for the financial stability the Ehrlich Scholarship provides but for all of the Ehrlich Scholars who have taught her to pursue her goals with nothing less than the toughest grit and biggest heart. In her time at UCLA Lauren has become a part of the USAC Office of the President where she plans to work on destigmatizing impostor syndrome and recreating power dynamics on campus to be more inclusive of cultural organizations. She has also become a Scholar Relations Coordinator for Alumni Scholars Club, a content creator in the UCLA Community of The Odyssey, a member of the Pacific Island Student Association, and in the spirit of helping underserved youth develop goals of higher education just recently became a Cub Tour Guide. Outside of school Lauren is heavily involved in American Legion Auxiliary California Girls State.
Lauren hopes to spend time abroad and study as many subjects as she can before graduating in 2022. In the future she aspires to work in the nonprofit sector, teach, attend law and business school, and eventually return home to the Bay Area where she hopes she can put her skills to use in the tech world.
