Trinity Haywood, ‘25
Trinity Haywood is a third-year pre-law student at UCLA majoring in Public Affairs and is pursuing two minors in Spanish and Global Studies. In addition to completing her core curriculum, she recently interned at the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office and gained extensive legal knowledge within the sex crimes unit and homicide division. This past summer, she traveled to Granada, Madrid, Barcelona, and other Spanish cities through a UCLA study abroad program which has diversified her educational experience and Spanish language comprehension.
As a 2023-24 UCLA Bunche Fellows Program scholar, she is looking forward to researching and analyzing the complexities of environmental racism within marginalized communities. This upcoming school year, she hopes to become a UCLA Law Fellow to better equip herself for preparing and applying to law school, meet other pre-law students at UCLA, and expand her knowledge on the various facets of law that she can pursue as a career. After graduation, she desires to take a gap year working abroad in a Spanish-speaking country before attending law school. In the future, she plans to become a bilingual lawyer to advocate for individuals within the United States and internationally as well.
Trinity is involved in community-engaged work in the Los Angeles area and is involved in many campus organizations including the Alumni Scholars program and the Black Pre-law Association. Her research background encompasses child advocacy and welfare, racial and education inequalities within inner-city public schools, and housing discrimination in southern California. This in addition to her passion for advocating for social justice issues, has influenced her involvement in student demonstrations against racial inequity, missionary work with survivors of human sex trafficking, and the Mayor’s Youth Council as a project lead for the Homeless Cohort into the pandemic.
As a grateful recipient of the Norma J. Ehrlich Scholarship, Trinity is enthusiastic about partnering with other women who are dedicated to improving the lives of others, making a positive impact in their communities, and being role models for young girls to follow in their footsteps.
